Holly Hunter is an American actress and producer well recognized for her highly laudable performance in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. The film Piano won her an Oscar. The successful actress began her acting career by performing on stage, through a variety of Broadway as well as Off-Broadway productions. When she was a kid, Helen Keller was her most loved character from a fifth year play. The actress was deaf in one ear due to mumps but did not allow this handicap to hinder her desire to be an actress. At college, she was a theatre student as well as later moving from Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania to New York City in pursuit of her dream. Hunter was trapped in the elevator of the playwright Beth Henley when she met her. Together they created Broadway Crimes of the Heart that marked the debut of Hunter on Broadway. The first time she appeared in a film was following her move in Los Angeles. Since her time in Los Angeles, Holly Hunter has been involved in numerous TV shows and movies. Holly Hunter won a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well as the Women in Film Lucy Award.
